Company Introduction
Red Gate China is a Canadian owned boutique travel consulting firm based in Shanghai. I am Jenny Zhou, I founded the company in the end of 2006. With a total of 10 years experience living, working and traveling in China and surrounding countries, it is my desire is to share my many travel experiences with those who are looking for a China travel experience that's truly authentic.
At Red Gate China, we are proud of our commitment towards impeccable customer service and responsible tourism. We specialize in creating China travel contents that caters to groups and individuals of different interests and tastes from all over the world. Coming from western backgrounds and having had first hand experience living and traveling in China for nearly a decade, we understand the level of service and professionalism that is expected by international visitors and organizations, and we are ready to meet these expectations.
We believe that when it is done right, tourism can bring about positive change in the world by promoting understanding between cultures and people, and that’s what we are set out to do. Most of our signature tours are designed to bring our participants in close contact with local communities, and we are constantly looking for ways to bring direct economic benefits to the local communities to encourage protection of their cultural heritage. At the same time, we are constantly seeking to work with partners who share the same believes, these include other travel companies as well as local non-profit groups. We believe that our sincere interest in the traditional ways of local cultures, and unspoiled natural environment will help to raise awareness for sound tourism practices in the long run. While meeting our customers demand for content-rich, unique, and safe travels in China, we also satisfy our customers by letting them know that their trip with Red Gate has also made a contribution towards positive change.
How we operate and why we are different?
We are set up as a boutique travel operator, different from most travel agencies that book flights, hotels, and sell travel packages for the masses, we tailor made each and everyone of our guest’s trips to make each trip a memorable and unique experience. How do we do it? The answer is simple - first of all, our western backgrounds mean that we look at China in a similar way as many international travelers, so we know the expectations, needs and frustrations of most international travelers in China. Secondly, we are avid travelers ourselves, and we’ve accumulated many knowledgeable local contacts in different parts of China who we work directly with. We believe that all of this will be very useful to the discerning but time-tied traveler with very little time to dig for themselves. Lastly, our understanding of many of the realities of traveling in China helps to set our customers’ expectations before a trip. We are constantly updated and adding new resources to the locations where we take our guests to.

For close to a decade, we've traveled extensively throughout China, driven by only one thing - our passion for discovery.Throughout our journey of discovery, we've come to uncover the unpolished and raw beauty of a nation that's portrait through phenomenon natural scenery, marks of ancient history, and cultural diversities. At the time when our mission was still unclear, unknowingly, we've paved the path, the path for what we are set out to do today - to share the wonders that we have discovered throughout China with you, the traveler who seeks a unique and meaningful travel experience. One question we constantly ask ourselves is that - "where do all the roads we"ve travel eventually lead us to?" And with Red Gate, we've found the answer - a travel company that emphasizes on experience, understanding, and responsible tourism practices.
